FIJI Bank and Finance Sector Employees Union national secretary Pramod Rae has shown interest in joining a political party for the September election this year.

Mr Rae confirmed this after announcing that he had relinquished his post as the union national secretary.

Mr Rae who has been with the union for 15 years said it was his intention to participate and that he could not yet confirm which party he would join.

“I can’t really say now on which party I hope to join as it will be up to the party that will consider me,” Mr Rae said.

“This decision was a hard decision to make because I have been in the Finance Sector Employees Union for 15 years and these kinds of decisions are normally forced on trade unionist.

“It seems that the government is bent on undermining workers right and restricting trade union activities, so the views amongst the workers’ is, the only way to continue in the restoration of workers rights is to be in the seat of power where the decisions are made which is in parliament.

“So the best place to be in addressing the issue is to be where the decisions are being made which has really prompted my decision to participate in politics,” Mr Rae said.

He said the Finance Sector Employees Union members were saddened and also supportive towards the decision he made, as they fully understood the situation they were in.

  1. Another looser on board. What have you done for the squatters in Suva Nausori corridor Parmod Rae? Come asking for vote you asshole,we are waiting.

  2. What about the chor Rajeshwar Singh of FPSA who is colluding with contractors of FPSA to make money. Every contractor working on the FPSA building for maintenance work is seen working at his home in Vuncakeca Road, Namdhi Heights or at several properties that he owns..
Extreme Construction – Manoj an Indian national and Rajeswar colluded and made money on several work that was taken by Manoj who has absconded to Vanuatu in fear of investigation. Manoj’s company record at FRCA and FNPF show that no local was employed. How then several work was given to Manoj by Rajeshwar SIngh.
Rajeshwar and Manoj colluded and opened a business in the name of U Tech Institute at level 8 Honson Building to teach I.T. About 90 students were brought from India and US$5700 was charged to every student for tuition fees alone to teach simple courses like Certificate in Computing. This was a major scam where Rajeshwar Singh was a silent partner. The students were mostly from rural Indian who were fooled to come to Fiji.
The Indian students had complained to the Immigration and Higher Commission but nothing had happened. Even the Indian High Commission is aware but no help was given to the students to recover their money.
Now the same operation has moved to VANUATU where Rajeshwar Singh had visited last year.
Last year Rajesh colluded with Nagin from Sherani & Company ( FPSA) lawyer which a conflict of interest to buy a house together at Wilkson Road, Dominion. The FPSA contractors and staff were used to do all the work at the house.
Nagin also did the transfer of land at Momi Bay for Rajeshwar Singh.
The Bainimarama government must really clean up the unions as some unionists have been with the unions for so long. The way is to investigate their dealings and charge them.
The AG. Mr Khayium and Fiji Independent Against Corruption should investigate such unionists and charge them. Most of the unionists in Fiji have abused the members money and Rajeshwar Singh is one of them.

  3. The party for a really change will be the United Freedom Party. This seems to be new people. The people need a change and new people in politics. All old politicians including Bainimarma and Khayium must retire.

  4. Every person holding a Fiji passport should have a right to contest the election. Why the regime is denying people who have Fiji passport not to contest. They are several people who would like to contest but the minimum requirements for 2 years residence does not allow them to contest. This is not fair. Every person holding a Fiji passport should have the right to contest. In this way we can have some very good people to contest. The Minister of Election must change this in the decree. This is discriminatory to the people who would like to contest.

  5. Rajeshwar Singh cannot even write one simple letter only big mouth. He is really looting members money. He also made about $40,000 as commission with Rohit of R. Hooker when he bought a building opposite the head office of FPSA for the FPSA Credit Union. The money was systematically taken to N.Z where his first wife reside. .

  6. My advise would be to join Khaiyum’s Fiji First as this will be the winning party. Coming over to Khaiyum is normally generously rewarded, opposing him gets you into serious trouble as many hopeless losers in Fiji can attest to. The only truly democratic party, led by man with compassion and vision is Fiji First. We will take the land from the peasants and reward our supporters with the proceeds. A simple but powerful concept.

  7. The FijiFirst party’s propaganda mouth piece, the corrupt and lying Fiji Sun, published yet another fictional piece created to fool voters into thinking that Bainimarama is the people’s choice for Prime Minister. Rubbish! Bainimarama is NOT the people’s choice.
Fiji Sun was paid $240,000 of taxpayers money for printing 40,000 names.
    Abuse of tax payers money.
How CJ Patel owned company is making money from the regime.
Bainimarma has never been elected into office. He staged two coups in 2000 (first ordering his CRW soldiers into parliament with Speight to overthrow government and then by removing his Commander in Chief, the President, from office) and a third coup in 2006 to run from the law and avoid going to prison for his crimes of treason, sedition, murder, rape, corruption, sedition and lying to the people of Fiji!
