The Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum and the Solicitor General Christopher Pryde are at the forefront of moving government reforms says permanent secretary for information Sharon Smith Johns.

Her comment follows recent rumors about the dismissal or resignation of the AG and the Solicitor General.

She says they were performing well above expectation and have the confidence of the Prime Minister and other cabinet members.

Smith says it is obvious that the rumors are being spread by individuals and disgruntled politicians whose only interest is to undermine the economy and investor confidence.

The PS has advised the public to keep focused on moving the country forward and enjoy the Hibiscus festivities.

  1. With a muzzled press, rumors are likely to be worse and more damaging than anything that a free press would be likely to print. However, it may be that the dictatorship is unaware of that.

What is your idiot comment trying to say?

  3. khaiyum and his coup cohort pryde must go. They are a liability to Fiji’s future and enemies of Fijian culture and values.

  4. As long as we are in coup coup land, rumour-mongering will continue to thrive where there is no freedom of speech- but where regime is so paranoid with criticisms. It has been the source of many a human rights violation up at the camp, even death, the cause of civil servants termination, and the root cause of the coup itself.

  5. If the PM was so happy with Asli Gandu why did he not quell the “rumours”.
Everyone knows he is on his way out.

  6. I’d like to believe that he is on the way out, but is he really? It could take years before he is actually out and things could become worse before they become better.

  7. Hard to say FRE. It could all just be wishful thinking by those who want to see the last of him. On another note I wonder why Sharon Johns did not quell rumours around Frank and Asli Gandu’s salaries. Enough talk making the rounds on that.
