The Lautoka Sugar Mill has crushed a total of 50,257 tonnes of cane by 7am today.
Crushing started from the 7th of this month.
The Fiji Sugar Corporation says the mill has so far produced a total of 3,040 tonnes of sugar.
The Rarawai Sugar Mill – which began crushing from last Tuesday – has crushed a total of 16,600 tonnes of cane and produced 490 tonnes of sugar.
The FSC says both mills could have done even better if all cane access roads were repaired before crushing began – as cane supply has not been that strong.
Meanwhile current wet weather conditions in the western division is expected to affect crushing at Lautoka and Rarawai.
Cane harvesting – which was to have started for the Penang Sugar Mill in Rakiraki from tomorrow is also expected to be affected by the rainy conditions.
