Nik Naidu from the Coalition for Democracy in Fiji, told Morning Report he understand why Colonel Mara has suddenly “seen the light”, and says he was one of the worst types of officers in Fiji.

Group opposes Fiji officer’s plan to visit NZ

Updated 31 minutes ago

An Auckland based Fiji pro-democracy group says the former Fiji military commander seeking to visit New Zealand should not be allowed entry.

Lieutenant-Colonel Ratu Tevita Mara escaped to Tonga last month after being charged with sedition.

Colonel Marra arrived in Australia on Thursday and wants to come to New Zealand to talk to supporters and, if he can, meet with Government officials.

But Nik Naidu from the Coalition for Democracy in Fiji, told Morning Report he understand why Colonel Mara has suddenly “seen the light”, and says he was one of the worst types of officers in Fiji.

Mr Naidu says his group will send a letter to the New Zealand Government opposing any visit by Colonel Mara to New Zealand.

Foreign Affairs Minister Murray McCully told Morning Report on Thursday Colonel Mara is on a list of people banned from entering this country and would have to be either removed from the list or receive an exemption.

  1. Nik Naidoo has a big mouth and he represents himself only. He holds no mandate to represent anybody in NZ.

He is a busy body who gets involved with organisations that spring up like mushrooms with high pollutin names.

Nik Naidoo likes to be seen as a mover and shaker claiming to represent Fiji Citizens in Auck.

He is another fart in the wind.

I have been in touch with NZ PM and Foreign Affairs Minister reqularly of late, by email, updating them on developments in Fiji and information coming out of Ului.

Both ministers are well informed. Had a chat with PM during his visit to Fijian Village during last Pasifika Festival and he is absolutely with the Pro-democracy/Anti-Coup movement in NZ.

The Ministers’ latest announcements favouring to allow Ului into NZ even on temporary basis must have been influnenced by our lobbying and of course based largely on the Government’s balanced assessments of the situation, especially as it is evolving which includes Ului’s escape from Fiji.

We continue to contacti the two Ministers on this and already have thanked them for their sympathetic announcements regarding Ului.

Nick Naidoo wants to cash in for a bit of grand standing. His moves should be taken as that .

NZ and Aussie Govts’ minds have already been made up and Naidoo, the ardent pro-coup and Bainimarama supporter should look for another course. to fight.

  2. all this indians are springing up and trying to cash in beware ,kaiviti,NA KAIDIA ENA KAIDIA TIKO GA,where were these bastards for the last 4years,yadra mai kai viti,o ira na luveni baku oqo, esa dina ga o Buta ,na kaidia vinaka ga ,na kaidia sa mate tu

  3. yamata – ulukau nomu racist comments………
qori saraga na ulubale e caka kina na coup!
Funny that ului hasnt even apologised to Qarase etc…….or does he want to be at the front now and they stay where they are? sa matata mai……………………
shows he still believes in the cause
anyway gulty is guilty ,,,,,,,,nik is correct

  4. nik naidu holds the view that ratu tevita mara should not be allowed into nz because he was one of the rotten apples that was part of the Fiji military mob. nik is entitled to hold a view on this matter as a long standing advocate of democracy and the rule of law in fiji.. the politicians in nz who will ultimately decide whether mara should be allowed into nz may very well ignore nik’s view and go the Australian way. nik is bold enough to state his position publically.
we know who he is and what he stands for. But who is Moro?

  5. Who the f is Nik Naidu? How come his group is being termed “pro-democracy”. Dream on Nik.

  6. Yes I agree roko lui is a defector and he will only be on the dark side of the story, affter all it will be called allegations and nothing to prove before clafiying on investigations back here in fiji

  7. Kivei Moro & Yamata….Drau vei touri dagger mada….tolo !!!! Ulukau…Drau vei cai !!!!! Da baleitaka tu na Kaidia e na veigauna kece…Na ka sa yaco tu i noda vanua e sa bale saraga vei keda na kai-viti !!!! E sa sivia na yalo-ca, veiqati, kocokoco, va vanua. Da masu tiko yet we are being racists….

To our non-indigenous fellow bloggers, this is a translation to my 1st paragraph in response to Bloggers Moro and Yamata’s racists comments:

“To Moro & Yamata”…..Why dont you two hold each other pricks….hurry !!!! You two root each other !!!! Everytime we blame the Indians….Whats happening in our land is totally our fault!!!! Theres too much ill-feelings, hatred, greed and internal bickering. We pray continously yet are being racists…”

Although I an indigenous Fijian I wholeheartedly acknowledge the fact that anyone and I mean anyone despite race, colour or creed born in Fiji is a Fijian. We can be known as indigenous, natives or i-taukei but all born in Fiji are Fijians simple as that.

I also accept that it took all citizens in Fiji to bring us prosperity until of course the events of 87 where the coup-culture began by that cock of an arsehole Rabuka….and now Vore.

As far as I’m concerned about Nik Naidu, yes he is entitled to his opinion but at the end of the day it’ll be the authorities in this case the NZ Govt to decide whether to allow Ului in or not.

  8. Who cares drau veivutu kei Jessy ke sega ga me vutuki kedrau ruarua o Nikita Naidu.

  9. Nik Naidu another bakuwavivi who only thinks that the 2006 coup was right because it avenged 1987/2000. If you peel away the layers of bullshit you end with just another racist uluwai.

  10. Jesse James rawati iko vakaca sara tiko beka na coka ni kete tauvi iko tiko, sa dua na ka na velavela ni gusumu kei na kemu boi…boi dada.

Evei au racist kina ????? Ratu Ului has been given verbal OK by NZ Minister of Foreign Affairs to enter NZ, and your mate Naidu is still trying to stop Ului being given NZ visa.

Ului is now in Aussie and we will welcome him to NZ especially North Shore Auckland.. We will call public meetings for him to address and arange for him to meet Ministers, Maori leaders as Tangata Whenua and all who will be interested. If you and Naidu care to meet Ului, you will be more than welcome to present to him your views personally.

  11. I know Nik and have respect for his opinion.

Nik does have a point but I don’t agree that it should be a justification NOT to involve Ratu Mara in the fight against the regime.

  12. Both Tongan and Fijian, keep the faith. i thot the bainivuaka junta had allowd dual citizenship.

  13. Yes Thumbs Up for Democracy!, Bainimarama did indeed permit dual citizenship — but in as far as all of the illegal and treasonous regime’s decree’s and policies, they will all be rescinded and as such are null and void as far as we’re concerned.

This is the thing. We can’t cherry-pick the illegal and treasonous decrees or policies when it suits us. Everything is illegal, thus my comment on Ratu Tevita now being technically Tongan.

If we, in promoting democracy, are buying into some of the regime’s policies, well we might as well be part of the military regime.

What is worse is that once all this mess ends up in the courts, if the military regime PROVES that we the people (ie MANY esp the high profile one’s) submitted to them by adhering to their policies, we are complicit to their illegal and treasonous takeover and leadership over us and ultimately we the people have thus condoned the illegal and treasonous takeover.

There are no shades of grey on this issue.

  14. Hmmm……..Do you live in Fiji, keep the faith?

Is ur ‘buying into’ and complying wit junta policies and decrees unda duress the same thing? And amounts to complicity? If thea r no shades of grey in complicity then y is thea no public demonstration or civil disobediance to the junta’s decrees and policies by ppl in Fiji? E.g. to the PER..?

  15. @ Thumbs Up for Democracy! – does it matter where I live?

Living under the regime’s illegal and treasonous policies UNDER DURESS eg taxes, FNPF, PER etc is why we blog. We have to continuously PROVE that we are under duress.

Complying with illegal & treasonous policies/laws is no different but we have to be very aware of how easy it is for the military regime to prove.

That is why we spat the face of Bainimarama & Co’s clamping down of our freedoms (esp free speech) by blogging @ Intelligentsiya from as far back as 26 Jan 2007 (http://intelligentsiya.blogspot.com/2007/01/freedom-is-right-to-raise-my-voice.html). And we continue to spit in the face of the illegal and treasonous PER by continuously attacking the regime, their co-conspirators and everything they do. We are proving a point because this is all proof that will come before the courts at some point soon.

If you look at all blog stats now, people are switching on (literally), and they are making conscious (yet risky) CHOICES (even by reading the blogs) not to comply with the illegal and treasonous PER.

Right there are the beginnings of non-violent civil disobedience. It has taken a while, but we have much more to do to make sure that EVERYONE in this country is on the same page.

  16. hah! Reason i askd is becoz of ‘buy in’ thingi u raised which i don’t belive is hapening “voluntarily” but becaus piple dn’t ave choice so they folow instruction frm the illegal regime “under duress”.

So i thot u din’t live in Fiji or u mite ave seen this. Its truz we rilly have a lot MORE to do!!

  17. Memo Nik Naidu. “My enemies enemy is my friend”.

Suggest you concentrate on your new life in your new country rather than meddling in affairs that no longer concern you.

  18. Some people will always be racists. It’s true, anything wrong happens, its the Indians faults. Well there are some Indians (tycoons) who are to be blamed. But then, there are i-taukei’s who execute these wrong doings.

Frankly, i-taukei’s have a cargo cult mentality.

You follow christianity, yet allow yourself to be racist. You allow people who rapes your sister, wife, daughter and mother to rule you if they are chiefs or sons of chiefs. You turn a blind eye on these type of people.

One question, if Frank apologises or Aiyaz apologises, will you give him the same respect? Ofcourse not, because you are no-brain, shit smelling, cowards with no fore-sight.

I am a Fijian (Indo for those racists) and have Fijian (i-taukei) friends. I was born in this land and I call this land home. I care for my fellow countrymen and help them when I can. I am not a fony religious person, I don’t even follow any religion, yet I know what is right from wrong. Maybe its time for every racist arse in Fiji to realise that. You cannot get rid of Indians or i-Fijians. We are the fabric of this country.

If you can’t accept multi-race society, go and sink you head in sand until the tide comes in.
