Mr Bainimarama should tell the people of this country who’s responsible for the intimidation and fear in this country over the last seven and a half years

NFP leader wants Fiji PM to clarify intimidation comment

Updated at 12:30 pm today

The leader of the National Federation Party says there is irony in the Fiji Prime Minister’s speaking out against intimidation.

In a speech yesterday, Rear Admiral Bainimarama said the riots and looting of the 2000 coup will not happen on his watch and he will not tolerate a climate of intimidation and fear.

The NFP’s Biman Prasad says Mr Bainmarama should clarify his statement.

“Mr Bainimarama should tell the people of this country who’s responsible for the intimidation and fear in this country over the last seven and a half years. Mr Bainimarama should also answer to the people of this country, when he was the commander of the military forces in 2000 when Suva was being torched, when people were being terrorised in villages and settlements. Where was he then?”

The leader of the National Federation Party, Biman Prasad.

  1. What a nonsense. Our great PM has never, ever intimidated anyone. To the contrary, he is a mild mannered philantropical intellectual who can sometimes even be a bit insecure and fearful. You may all recall his great performance when he was chased down the cassava patch in 2000. Admittedly he has gained a bit of weight since then (the good life) and his fitness levels may not allow him to accelerate as fast as in 2000, but boy, I can assure you that he still knows when to run.

  2. Biman mus be dump Fiji-is much safe now because of Frank hard stand against criminals nowadays criminals are frightened to be beaten People are starting to talk silly now when all is fine eh

  3. Good one Biman. Up the tempo and remind the people of who exactly is the problem here!!

We will deny Frank the privilege of having his will over the rest of Fiji, because of this cowardly military’s support behind him. Vote for any other party be it FLP, NFP, SODELPA, One Fiji or other BUT NOT FIJI FIRST.

  4. Aeroplane Biman polled only 2 per cent as preferred leader and NFP is also scoring single digits in the poll, so this Labasian is trying to be relevant and get some attention in a desperate bid to get parliament after losing his lucrative USP job.

Al-Qaeda’s Syrian affiliate, al-Nusra Front, has released 45 Fijian UN peacekeepers after holding them for two weeks on the Syrian side of the Golan Heights, an activist says.
“The release was brokered by a Gulf state,” the Syrian activist said on Thursday, on condition of anonymity.
The activist added that the details will be disclosed after the soldiers are handed over to the UN Disengagement Observer Force in the Golan.
Rami Abdel-Rahman, the head of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, said that his Britain-based watchdog had information the soldiers had been released.
“We are still waiting for information that they have reached a safe area,” he said.
The peacekeepers were abducted on August 28 in the volatile area of Quneitra, where Syrian regime troops and rebels have fought in recent weeks.

  6. the last 7 years had been fronted with nothing but uncertainty!!!!!…….good on Mr Prasad for Not being frightened to speak the Truth. Iko na tagane….sega ni vaka o ira na gusugusu tagane tikoga!!!

  7. Thank you Biman. I just wish it was a proper election. You and the other party leaders and candidates would have a better chance of telling the nation your side of the story. But it is now water under the bridge. We will just have to vote and see. My question is, “How do we know for sure that the ballots we put in are the same exact ballots they will count?
