Military not taking sides

THE RFMF says they favour neither rebel nor government forces in Syria.

This after international reports quoted an Islamic Militant commander saying Fijian peacekeepers were kidnapped because UNDOF is aiding Syrian government forces.

But RFMF Commander Brigadier General Mosese Tikoitoga dismissed these claims saying the only contact they had with anyone outside UNDOF came when they treated wounded civilians at the hospital in their area.

He explained that even then they could tell the difference between soldiers and non-combatants.

“In these cases, even people who are firing at you, they throw away their weapons and they walk to you in civilian clothes and you can’t treat them as combatants, you must treat them as civilians,” Brig-Gen Tikoitoga said.

“That’s the reality on the ground unless you are in uniform then you are a soldier.

“There they treat you as civilians, you’re not a combatant and that’s the practical sense of what is happening in Syria.

Brig-Gen Tikoitoga also explained the UNDOF and Fijian peacekeepers maintained their neutrality between Israel and Syria.”

“We maintain our neutrality, we have a very good relationship with the Syrians on a personal relationship with the people on the ground as we do in Lebanon, as we do in Iraq.

“We also have a very good relationship with the Israeli’s as in all our peacekeeping missions but there is never a compromise of the operation, we don’t help them conduct their operations, we work with them and understand personalities but we don’t help them in their operations.”

  1. Can Mosese , Vorere, Inoke, or Pio explain to us how the RFMF, under the illegal regime, thinks it can be perceived to be neutral to Israel when it has consciously courted the friendship of Iran, Russia and other countries known as enemies of the nation of Israel. Please revisit your position and think about the long term implications of your decisions and actions. The rest of the world is not as stupid as you lot. Stop trading our soldiers’ lives and the reputation and good international relations of Fiji for a few dollars more.

  2. Sunil Kumar, two things to tell you.
    1. Stop posing as one of our Indo Fijian brothers.. We are as stupid as you think. As you are a strong supporter and new regime troll, why don’t you disclose your real name to the people of Fiji. Surely you have nothing to be afraid of, have you? Or you must be just someone like your dictator, Vorere Maramanibai. A coward hiding behind your anonymity.
    2. Your abusive language speaks volumes about you. You are a garbage bin full of negative and ugly thoughts. Read my posting again above. You might learn something from it. More than you will ever learn from your mentally unstable coward of a leader. Go rinse your mouth and your soul. You need it. This is my land. I will defend it with all that I have. No tin pot dictator or his stupid followers like you will ever stop me from that. Please digest that and learn. You may see some light yet.
