Unhappy Fijians

MEMBERS of the Fijian community living in Tonga have expressed their disappointment in not being able to cast their votes in this year’s general election having missed out on registration.

Tonga Fijian community member Iliesa Tora said all their efforts in trying to secure a team to travel to Tonga since 2012 fell on deaf ears.

“It’s a shame because I started making contact with the Elections Office from 2012 but no one responded to my queries and requests for them to consider coming here to register these people,” Mr Tora said.

“I guess it is disappointing — to note that they sent teams to Australia and England without considering Tonga.

“We are still Fijians and we still help in the local economy because people here still send money to their families back home and help with their needs there.”

Mr Tora said some of their members had been able to register online but a majority of the 200 to 250 Fijians living in Tonga were not able to register for the September 17 election.

“It would have been great if the team had come here so that our people here could have also been given the chance to learn about how to vote etcetera and also given the chance to have a say in the government to take Fiji forward,” he said.

Questions sent to the Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem since August 8 have remained unanswered.

  1. What this article forgot to say is that these pathetic moaners never bothered to get off their ass and get their passports updated. Should they have wound their sorry asses into gear and done this they could have registered online.

Is there no limit to the lengths that some go to show what whining losers they are or do they believe others can not see that.

  2. Fiji, the only country in the world where some want the taxpayers money to be spent helping those that so obviously will not help themselves.

  3. More than 90 percent of Fiji citizens who live in Tonga are of indigenous descent. Fiji First Party and this illegal regime are not very keen on registering native Fijians and we know why. This is another of Khaiyum’s plans in trying to destroy the indigenous Fijian institutions.

Further, Ratu Ului Mara is there. He would be the best campaigner against Frank and his party.

  4. To those whingers in Tonga, I was supposed to receive your correspondence by 3:27 Pm on 5/8/14. Unfortunately it was not received by my office until 3:28 PM on 5/8/14.

    Rules are rules.
