Two more lawyers for NFP
Two lawyers are the latest inclusion in the National Federation Party (NFP) line-up for the September general election.
The party now has five more candidate nominees to name before they are apply for nomination at the Fijian Elections Office.
At yesterday’s announcement Semi Titoko was not present because he had to attend urgent court business.
NFP leader Dr Biman Prasad said Mr Titoko has been on the campaign trail and was making significance impact in Rakiraki.
“He has been approached by the chiefs of Ra to be the voice of Ra in Parliament and they have endorsed his decision to contest the elections under the NFP banner,” said Mr Prasad.
Mr Titoko was born in Nalawa, Ra, and operates the Qarcia Barristers and solicitors law firm in Vaileka.
He was in the judiciary from1992 to 2000 and worked in the Nadi and Suva magistrates courts and the High Court in Lautoka
Siddiq Faizal Koya is the son of one of the party’s former leaders, Siddiq Moidin Koya.
He is a barrister and solicitor with Siddiq Koya lawyers.
Mr Koya graduated with a honours law degree from University of Wolverhampton in the United Kingdom and has served as a magistrate.
His interest is in youth and sports development and he is a strong advocate against animal cruelty.
Mr Prasad said the NFP was the only party which had a national policy on animal welfare. Mr Koya said he joined the party because there was no other for him.
“I was approached by another party to stand in the elections, but my belief in the principles of this party and its constitution, I had never thought of any other,” he said.
