GCC divides iTaukei: PM

The Great Council of Chiefs (GCC) could never be part of a new Fiji because it was too divisive for Fijians, particularly the iTaukei.
This comment was made by the FijiFirst leader and Prime Minister, Rear Admiral (Retired) Voreqe Bainimarama at Korovisilou Village in Serua yesterday.
He said the Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) was misleading other political parties by saying they would reinstate the GCC when elected to power.
“The rest of the iTaukei people are left behind and this is very discriminatory,” he said.
According to the Prime Minister, politicising the GCC was started by the Soqosoqo ni Vakavulewa ni Taukei (SVT) and was later taken over by the Laisenia Qarase-led Soqosoqo Duavata ni Lewenivanua (SDL) party. He said the FijiFirst supported chiefs to lead their people in the villages.

  1. Bainimarma had said to the chiefs to go and drink home brew under the mango tree. Now he is going to the same chiefs to ask for their support. The GCC is an identity for all the Fijians and it must be given the respect.
Khayium’s plan is to dilute the presence of chiefs. Khayium’s thesis must be summarized by political parties and distributed to every Fijian.

“The complainant was a 14 year old school girl at the time of the incident. She was one of 18 students in a classroom sitting an examination. The appellant was supervising the examination. The complainant was sitting at a desk in the front row. She said that the appellant came and stood beside her on her left. She looked up and the appellant touched her breast with his left hand. She sat up and the accused slid his left hand down her stomach and right to her private part. He then rubbed her private part. He denied touching her breast or private parts. However, the actions of the appellant as described by the complainant in her evidence were something that would not necessarily have created attention. The other pupils in the room were writing their examination papers. The Appellant was standing alongside the complainant in the front row and such conduct would be expected to have been done as surreptitiously as possible…The learned Magistrate made a clear finding that he accepted the evidence of the complainant as truthful. An appellant Court would need very compelling and cogent reasons to interfere with that finding. There are no grounds to do so in this case…The appeal against conviction is dismissed” Justice Pain, Fiji High Court, September 1997;Bolatiki v State [1997] FJHC 124; HAA0035D.1997S (3 September 1997)

  4. The GCC is a bunch of greedy thugs with no understanding of true democracy. They have destabilised all democratically elected governments and plotted coups. They have prevented transparency and accountability, they suppressed the publication of Auditor General Reports. It is not conceivable that a true democrat such as the Horrible Khaiyum and his Fiji First party would support the re-emergence of the dictatorial rule of the GCC!

  5. The regime is the worst which has thrust an illegal constitution on the people and all the decrees that come about without the knowledge of the people. They have illegally ruled for 8 years and earned millions while the poor suffer in silence.

  6. Please listen up Voreqe and Khaiyum. In their wisdom, our colonial rulers created the GCC to unite and control the Fijian natives. However, there were Fijian chiefs before the white settlers came to Fiji. While the GCC was a created entity for political ends, our Fijian chiefs exist in their own rights and titles are transferred though bloodlines to which no person or Government has any say. The Government has nothing to do with our bloodlines and family lineages. Governments will come and go and our families and our traditions and our chiefs will remain, even though there will be changes. These changes are the sole prerogatives of the communities, families and blood relatives and the native Fijian people as a whole.

As a group, only the Fijian people as a whole has the right to decide on their way of life (culture) resources and traditions. This includes their land, fishing rights, GCC, public relations and political representation. Only the Fijian people have the prerogative to determine their future and destiny in their own land. Neither Voreqe nor his illegal regime has the right to change the way of life of our Fijian people without their authority and consent.

After the election, we will organise meetings and consultations to revisit this and other issues so critical and absolutely fundamental to our Fijian way of life and our future destiny as indigenous people. Until then, Vorqeqe and Khaiyum, please stop talking about the GCC, By your previous lies, deceits and criminal actions, both of you are not qualified to speak about it. To do so would only make your own future extremely bleak and beyond our grace to forgive.

To you Bolatiki and your Fiji Sun journalists, by your own deliberate and calculated actions, you have been an accessory to all the evil actions and intentions of this regime. You will therefore suffer the justice you deserve. You Maika have no remorse and have not learnt from your evil actions. Your sexual offence is absolutely a disgrace and a blight to the teaching profession. But to err is only human. However, you continue to blatantly disregard the wishes of our people and support Voreqe and his evil crowd. You are very lost and I pray that you will return to your senses, seek God’s forgiveness and do the right thing before God’s judgment comes upon you and your family.

  7. We have an un-elected PM, who supplied his CRW solders with guns and supplies to remove the government of 2000, then tried to play the saviour’s role to free the MP hostages, before storming the unarmed people at Kalabu.
He was a party to the removal of the President Rt. Mara in 2000.
He was the one who tried to illegally abrogate the 1997 in 2000.
He started planning the 2006 in 2003 when his Commander’s contract was in limbo for renewal.
He lied to the people as the reason behind the 2006 coup. This is evident to the fact that no one was charged nor imprisoned, in the last 7 years, for corruption as a Minister or PS in their roles in government.
Created the illegal FICAC to create fear amongst the people. Sacked 4 DPPs, and with his illegal CJ they have sacked magistrates, judges etc…
Lied that no military official will benefit from the coup.
Lied to the Charter for Change that the 1997 in the supreme law of the land.
Lied to the people that President Iloilo abrogated the 1997 constitution when he did himself.
He has just lied about the declaration of his assets.
The list goes on with more lies yet to come.

  8. Let me tell you this Voreqe and your brain Aiyaz. The more you speak, the more people know that you are a very proud, unstable and desperate idiot. (O iko e dua na tamata ulukau, dokadoka, qaciqacia, lasulasu, viavialevu, yalowai, ka sega nomu i tovo. O iko na kaisi bokola.)

An idiot and fool like you has only a very limited menu to topics you can speak on. The GCC is one of those topics you can never talk about because you just do not have it. Tell your brain (Khaiyum) to stop thinking about the GCC and anything the Fijian people treasure. Please organise a public debate. Let’s talk about this and all the topics you want. The people must hear the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

Get Gates, Shameem, and all your criminal band. Oh, do not forget to bring your brain with you. You will all need to be there. Organise a public debate. Stop your lies. Let the nation and the world hear the truth. Let me know when you have the courage to do that. Tamata vakaloloma o iko. Na nomu I tovo sa tukuni iko tikoga. Kaisi bokola.

  9. You Fijian Chiefs, The foundation of being a Fijian or I Taukei, is identifiable by the Tradition and cultural make up that makes us all unique from the other ethnicities around the globe. Our tradition and cultures are not politically motivated and should never be. It is a stand alone character in the life of the nation of our beloved country for as long as there are ethnic groups whom are identified with the land of occupation. We are recognised by those qualities and unified under the banner of being I Taukei in the sense that we recognise and uphold everyone elses’ traditions from every other parts of Fiji. We have common calling names that we identified with by our cousins from the other corners of Fiji. We should not allow an idiot self serving thugs like Bainimarama and his group lead us to believe otherwise.

Tradition, Religion and Politics should not amalgamate and try to find an even keel whereby the three can accommodate one another. That will never happen due to the fact that the three have different usage, applications and yield different outcomes. Politic is much more that the other two put together yet politic has the capacity to accommodate the other two for as long as the other two do not compromise the purpose of Politics.

The GCC should be respected and not abrogated, as they serve an important role in the I taukeis identity and purpose for the I Taukeis’ existence. Collectively GCC (Chiefs) can raise concerns re the I Taukei issues via dialog with the government of the day. and that can be healthy. Throwing out the GCC is like throwing out the Bible or Koran from every religious constitutions around Fiji.

In saying so, GCC should not be governmentally or a figure in the parliamentary process or government funded as most provinces have their own provincial money making mechanisms but at times financially assisted by government at very crucial moments . Bainimarama is a control freak and lack the mental capacity to open his mind and look at the wider picture of the importance of having certain council. He is driven to control Fiji and her people and will continue to do so for as long as he is in power.

These dumb Chiefs should not be inviting or accepting him in their villages, provinces etc. He will continue to dangle carrots in front of these Chiefs winning their hearts in the slimy sneaky way Bainimarama does.

  10. Stop your shit you antis and for once listen to FB.

GCC is gone – bye, bye GCC!

iTaukeis can create a new institution for their chiefs which will be free from politics and one that can protect their culture and traditions.

A new institution that will have the respect of all Fijians and will care for their people.

Not an institution that separates and causes division amongst the iTaukei themselves and Fijians as a whole

iTaukeis deserve a better, respectable, caring and unifying institution

  11. Separation is denying people of their God given rights you dumbass, You re not a Fijian or I taukei for that matter so you have no right to speak of what’s right and not right for Fijians or itaukei. Open your mind and look at the great picture. I taukei have their fundamental rights in their homeland respected by the likes of you lot the lost tribes.
