The Registrar of Political Parties has approved the registration of Fiji United Freedom Party. It now becomes the sixth registered political party in Fiji. Meanwhile, the application for proposed “One Fiji Party” as a political party has been rejected. The Registrar of Political Parties says the proposed party failed to meet the minimum requirements as set out under Section 6 sub-section 3 (1) of the Political Parties Decree 2013. Section 6 subsection 3 (1) states that an application for registration shall set out the name of the proposed political party in the English language. Early this week, the FijiFirst Party had raised an objection to the registration of the proposed One Fiji Party, saying the name of the party is similar to its own.
