Police report not needed for replacement card
The Fijian Elections Office has done away with the Police report requirement for the replacement of lost elections voter registration (EVR) cards.
Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem said they wanted to facilitate the procedure for those that had lost their EVR cards.
“If you have lost your EVR card, you can visit your nearest voter information booth and fill a replacement form and you will get the card reprinted,” Mr Saneem said.
“Previously a Police report was required to get a replacement card but we thought to remove it so that voters that have lost their card can easily get a replacement.”
However he has advised the general public, those that have registered, to ensure that they keep their cards properly and not lose them.
“When you come on polling day your primary source of identification would be your EVR card so we kindly request people to ensure that their cards are kept safely to be produced at their polling stations on September 17,” Mr Saneem said.
