40,000 Fiji First backers in breach of decree – UFDF

Updated at 4:27 am today

The United Front for a Democratic Fiji says a false declaration by the regime leader’s proposed political party has legal consequences for every one of its initial 40,000 members.

Last week, Rear Admiral Frank Bainimarama’s proposed Fiji First party submitted its registration papers, which included the name of one supporter, Bijai Prasad, who wrongly claimed to have no criminal record – an offence that can incur a fine and up to five years in prison or both.

The political parties decree says if a party commits such an offence, every officer of the party is deemed to have committed the offence.

The Front’s co-ordinator, Mick Beddoes, says the breach will be a test for the new Supervisor of Election who is tasked with enforcing the decree.

“Because there was a false declaration, that offence applies to all of the applicants of Fiji First plus the 40,000 signatories. They have all committed an offence according to that decree.”

Mick Beddoes says he believes the decree, which is one of many unreasonable decrees, was drafted with malicious intent.

  1. “Because there was a false declaration, that offence applies to all of the applicants of Fiji First plus the 40,000 signatories. They have all committed an offence according to that decree.”

    Is this guy for real?

  2. How to make a total idiot of yourself in one easy lesson. If Mick Beddoes is an example of the political brains within Fiji, God help the people.

  3. Mick go for it. Keep the fight with the illegal regime who are abusing the taxpayers money for 8 years.
8 years of robbery, corruption, nepotism, illegal decrees etc etc thrust on the people without consultation must be removed. Bai/ Khayium must give chance to others to rule.
Why these two want to hang on to power!!!

  4. Well Mick wasn’t always a bright spark infact he would be ignominious amongst his fellow retards.

  5. he dictator, Frank Bainimarama, has created history in Fiji by being the first, albeit self-imposed, Prime Minister to murder CRW soldiers, an unborn child, and create the country’s:
    highest ever levels of Unemployment,
    highest levels of Poverty,
    highest cost of living,
highest levels of corruption and nepotism
highest levels of crime and rape
    highest levels of suicide,
highest levels of child deaths from malnutrition
the nations highest levels of foreign debt with each and very man, woman and child owing over $7,500 each!

  6. I think lets keep to important issues rather than personally issues. Mick is totally right. The regime MUST be removed. When will the people open their eyes to thugs and TALIBAN rule.

  7. When will the people of Fiji know the salary and assets for Bainimarma/ Khayium before 2006 and AFTER.
Why the salary of ministers are processed by Khayium’s aunty – Nur Bano???.

  8. Mick says that the decree was drafted with malicious intent, It was a Khaiyum special.

Khaiyum has malicious intent when he eats his breakfast. He is a malicious and dangerous individual.

  9. There is not enough time to prepare for the elections.
The Electoral Commission is not independent.
The Supervisor of Elections is a government crony and was not the most suitable applicant.
Foreign-funded NGOs should be able to carry out voter education.
Some information on the registered voter card can be misused by the authorities.
The political parties should be given a printout of registered voters
It is not a level playing field.
Opposition leaders knee-capped. Chaudhry and Qarase convictions politically motivated.
Bainimarama is breaking regulations – campaigning before registration, choice of party colour and emblem.
Unfair media coverage, especially by Fiji Sun and Fiji Broadcasting.
Media Industry Development Agency not independent and its chairman is unsuitable.
Illegal A-G is in charge of elections and in Fiji First: a conflict of interest.
Voting will take place in an atmosphere of fear. They will not be free, fair and transparent.
Voting must be overseen by independent observers. There are too many polling stations for observers to cover them all.
The Election Decree allows phone tapping.
Voters will not be allowed to bring voting advice and reminder information into the polling station.
Voters may be body-searched if officials think they are breaking this requirement.
Many voters will not be able to remember the three digit number of the person they wish to vote for.
Voters are expected to vote in no more than two minutes.
All the decrees and regulations passed by government are invalid because they were not elected.

  10. Good on you Beddoes for stating this illegal lot who apparently set up a trap which has ensnared them. Those criticising Mick Beddoes, check your logic,,,,he is raising a logical point that the decree stipulates that those who signed up supporting the FFP and officials of the FFP are guilty of an offence if the VP of the party swore that he had not been guilty of a criminal offence and was dually appointed VP when in fact he had been convicted of such an offence.

Please push on further and engage a lawyer to take up the case with the Supervisor of election…this should be a test of his suitability for the job…..or take the whole FFP to court.

  11. The Auditor General’s reports are key to revealing the true extent of Khaiyum and Bainimarama’s large-scale looting and corruption. But the reports are banned from being published and, in addition, the public accounts committee, who oversee public expenditure, was dissolved. This has all been done to hide the truth about Bainimarama and Khaiyum’s illegal appropriation and expenditure of public funds, which includes:
    Bainimarama’s multiple salaries
    Khaiyum’s multiple salaries
    Salaries of Permanent Secretaries
Payments of Ministers’ salaries to Nur Bano Ali’s accounting firm
Sale of Rewa Dairy to CJ Patel
    Use of cheap Chinese loans
    plus much more.

  12. The country has gone 30 years back by the thugs.
The thugs have filled their pocket and put the next generation into debt.
The country is now ran by Taliban. This is what the i taukei want!!!

  13. Heaps of tatti flying around, not to mention that everyone is full of shit, unless you are a rare creature that does not pu.

  14. @ Nabua Prince
Croz Walsh more interesting…if you like reading the delusions of a senile old man who despite having no legal training fancies himself as a constitutional law expert.

Comic relief and fantasy. What we have come to expect.

  15. @ No T

I bet Walsh is much much more intelligent than than you and Ratu She and Radio idiot combined.

Do you have the guts to reveal your identity and tell us sara mada what your qualifications, experience, books, articles, etc you have written on Fiji are???

Professor Walsh is an intelligent man who has vast knowledge and understanding of Fiji – that is why he is a Professor.

If you’re man enough identify yourself so Fiji can see where you stand and what you know.

  16. @ Tomasi. Don’t comment Tomasi and feed us with your lies.
We don’t want to read your stupid misinterpretation of the good book.
Stay away from using God’s name for your political benefit.

  17. @ Nabua

My dog’s bigger than your dog.. Your style of argument would suggest you are under 15 years of age. Croz Walsh is intelligent and I am an astronaut.

  18. Two political parties have raised concerns over the current health system and facilities in the country.

The Fiji Labour Party has raised serious concerns over the closing hours of the out-patients department at the Labasa Hospital.

Party leader Mahendra Chaudhry said over the weekend during his visit to Labasa, he found out that during weekdays the out-patient department closes at 4pm, on Saturdays the department closes at 12pm while on Sunday the department remains closed.

He said patients who come after the closing hours are not regarded as emergency cases and are sent home.

There is an audio file attached to this story. Please login to listen.

National Federation Party Leader Biman Prasad said during his visit to the Lautoka Hospital a few weeks ago, they found out that patients had to wait for more than 5 hours to see a doctor.

He said the physical condition of the hospital was shameful as pigeon droppings were visible on the walls and windows and potholes were in front of the entry space.

We have sent questions to the Health Ministry and are waiting reply.
Meanwhile Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama revealed last week that major reforms and basic up-grade to medical facilities and services will be carried out in the next few months.

He said this reform is also a result of his office closely monitoring the public medical service delivery.

The Prime Minister said public medical service delivery does not only relate to the ratio of doctors to patients but the attitude of medical staff towards their clients who are both out and inpatients.

He said this includes the level of compassion, empathy and sensitivity shown by our medical staff.

  19. Please be gentle to Croz Walsh. He is world famous in Horowenua and was a top notch professor at the world’s leading university the USP. When he tried to get a job as a professor in Australia he was turned down because he would have out shined everybody else with the depth of his knowledge and his unwavering quest for fair and balanced reporting on Pacific matters. Now he is getting a bit old and often has to rely on cut and paste jobs. His main source is the fair and balanced statements of Minfo, so he can’t be wrong can he? Let us all acknowledge his significant contribution to science which lets him see eye to eye with Albert Einstein. Please accept what he says as the ultimate truth, a truth you are too uneducated to see for yourself.

  20. @ No T

So you don’t have the guts!!!

Hehehehehehehe …………………. you little cock roach!!!

Wanting to argue with a Professor!!!

  21. Yeah and Nabua Prince is your real name? Do your mummy and daddy know what you are doing? They might need to set the child locks on the computer.

Just keep kissing the ass of fools. The regime will find a job for you no doubt.
