Ex RNZI……….Mr Sayed-Khaiyum should refrain from publishing defamatory statements about the Forum.

Fiji’s CCF awaiting AG’s booklet comment

Updated at 9:12 pm on 20 May 2014

The Citizens Constitutional Forum in Fiji says it is still waiting to hear back from the Attorney General about his concerns over its educational booklet on the constitution.

Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum sent an official complaint to the Forum more than a month ago, listing about a dozen aspects of the booklet he said had legal or factual inaccuracies.

The head of CCF, the Reverend Akuila Yabaki, says the Forum strongly rejects allegations the booklet intends to mislead the public, and has requested that Mr Sayed-Khaiyum refrain from publishing defamatory statements about the Forum.

The Reverend Yabaki says it decided to stop distributing the booklet until the issue could be discussed with Mr Sayed-Khaiyum.

But he says numerous attempts to meet him have been unsuccessful.

“The ball is still in their court. When we get their letter expressing those concerns, then we will improve some slight corrections on our website but we’re not conceding that the booklet had misleading lies.”

Reverend Akuila Yabaki says the corrections include some minor changes to a date and a definition

  1. Why is the Rev. listening to a bush lawyer who unilaterally makes up his own rules and forces everyone to follow it? What is the rationale for talking with a self appointed law officer who doesnt follow the law? The Rev. is just adding to the already laughable scenario of the Fiji circus!!
