Elections Office Director Post Re-Advertised DEPUTY supervisor clancy handles role, progress continues for poll: saneem
The re-advertising of the position of Director, Electoral Procedure at the Fijian Elections Office will not affect the progress towards the September 17 poll.
Supervisor of Election Mohammed Saneem said Elissavet Karagiannidou was not able to come to Fiji to take up the post. Ms Karagiannidou, who is from Greece was appointed on March 28, 2014 along with Mr Saneem, the Deputy Supervisor of Elections, Director Operation and Director of Communications.
Mr Saneem said it would not affect the progress made so far.
“The Deputy Supervisor of Elections is currently handling the role of the electoral procedure director,” Mr Saneem said.
He said overseas technical advisors are also helping out.
The Director, Electoral Procedures is responsible for the development and execution of appropriate procedures for the implementation of Electoral Law in Fiji. The position provides legal advice to the Electoral Commission and other key stakeholders on the provisions of Electoral law and its administration in Fiji.
Applicants should have experience interpreting legislation and providing high level policy advice to meet legislative needs
The new advertisement posted on the Elections Office website said: “In addition to undergraduate qualifications in Law and eligibility for registration as a Legal Practitioner in Fiji, the following knowledge and experience is sought for this position:
n At least 5 years (post qualification, supervisory level) experience interpreting legislation and providing high level policy advice to meet legislative needs;
n Knowledge of Electoral Systems, public administration, policy development and procedural documentation;
n Demonstrated ability to build effective team work, manage and motivate staff at different levels and from different backgrounds and experience.”
