More than 50 Bau villagers led by their chief Ratu Epenisa Cakobau yesterday welcomed a SODELPA delegation and gave them their blessing too.
SODELPA leader Ro Teimumu Kepa led the delegation.
She said they had had overwhelming support from the vanua they had visited to seek their blessings and approval to campaign in their areas.
She also announced that changing the retirement age from 55 to 60 would be part of their manifesto.
SODELPA would also push for more iTaukei scholarship to achieve parity with other races.
It would also strengthen i-Taukei rights and review the land tenure system to help the landowners.

  1. Toso tiko SODELPA but pls get rid of Sainiana ,,,,,,,,she is well known for all negative things so get a better front and spokesperson…….DOU KUA NI VAKALOLOMA KEDA NA KAI VITI

his is the response from the chiefly herald of the Vunivalu of Bau Josua Dainiteri following the visit by the leader of the Social Democratic Liberal Party Ro Teimumu Kepa and senior officials of the party last night.

Dainiteri said Bau chief Ratu Epenisa Cakobau accepted the SODELPA team as they were seeking the approval of the chiefs to have campaign meetings in the villages in the province of Tailevu.

He said Ratu Epenisa Cakobau told the delegation that the traditional links between Bau, the vanua of Kubuna and the Marama Roko Tui Dreketi and the vanua of Burebasaga will always remain.

But Dainiteri said the people of Tailevu have the freedom to choose whoever they want to vote for on Election Day.

About 70 people were present at the Ulunivuaka meeting house last night including Roko Tui Bau Ratu Joni Madraiwiwi, Ratu Epenisa Cakobau, Ratu Jope Seniloli and SODELPA President Ratu Silivenusi Waqausa who is also from Bau.

SODELPA media manager Sainiana Radrodro said this is a courtesy visit to seek the traditional approval to begin the political campaigns in the province.

The SODELPA team included Ro Teimumu Kepa, the President of the party Silivenusi Waqausa, General Secretary Pio Tabaiwalu and Tailevu representative Ratu Isoa Tikoca.

  2. Pretty straightforward, the meeting was basically between people who are relation in many aspects. Fijian protocol is being followed before political campaign begins.

The PM is doing the same but using public fund.

  3. THE Fiji Independent Commission against Corruption has laid charges against Sainiana Waqainabete Radrodro.

Mrs Radrodro appeared before Magistrate Yohan Liyanage in the Suva Magistrates Court yesterday but the charges were not read out. Representing Mrs Radrodro was lawyer Seruwaia Nayacalevu, who applied for bail on the grounds that her client was not a flight risk and was employed by the United Nations Women.

The FICAC prosecutor told the court the accused had been served charges and also the first phase of disclosures.

Ms Nayacalevu confirmed receiving both documents and said they were not in a position to take a plea.

Ms Nayacalevu asked the court for more time so that her client could go through the disclosures before taking a plea.

Plea has been deferred and the case has been adjourned to January 10 for mention.

What Mrs Radrodro is charged with is still unknown as it was not disclosed in court.

Mrs Radrodro has been granted bail on the conditions that she:

    * Provides $3000 as surety;

    * She does not enter any premises of the Ministry of Works, Transport and Public Utilities;

    * To surrender all travel documents; and

    * Report to the Nabua Police Station every Friday from anytime between 6am to 6pm.

The court has also issued an order for stop departure which will be delivered to the Immigration Department.

Mrs Radrodro’s father-in-law appeared as her surety before Mr Liyanage.

The court heard that her passport was still being held by the New Zealand High Commission where she had lodged for a transit visa to Samoa via New Zealand.

Mrs Radrodro’s lawyer submitted two grounds on how the court could obtain her client’s passport, saying that the court could issue a directive to the New Zealand High Commission to handover her client’s passport or to wait until her client receives her passport and that she would hand it over to the court.

The court ordered that Mrs Radrodro produce her passport in court within a week and not to re-offend while on bail.

  4. We cannot tolerate the blatant violation of the rules that the Honourable Khaiyum has laid out for the elections or risk that old, racist and corrupt parties win votes and worse, seats in Parliament. Therefore a special task force has been created which will investigate all potential candidates for corruption and other crimes and lay charges prior to elections. Our judiciary will fast track the cases in order to ensure that all serious contenders are removed from contesting elections. In the meanwhile we also have adjusted the salary procedures for the Honourable Khaiyum and his friends from the RFMF in order for them to appear modest and acceptable.

  5. The i taukei want the scholarship for our children. The regime is taking our land, scholarship CCG, Methodist church etc etc…

  6. Sainana Rodrodro with SOdelap means minus 5000 women votes. I mean itaukei votes.

Ask any educated working women and that’s their simple response.

Is sodelpa a party of would-be convicts?

  7. The Sodelpa party is in a pact with FLP and NFP for the coming elections.

Sodelpa”s party member Dr tupeni baba calls indo fijians “coolie”. Did he mean coolie as an indian word or coolie as itaukei vocab? In both instance is an insult to the indo fijians as it would mean a dog if it was the later.

A vote for FLP or NFP would mean indo fijians support a racists party like sodelpa.

I just all indo fijians not to support this 2 indian parties (FLP and NFP).

  8. Bainimarama and Khaiyum will trip and fall through their own decrees and laws. That is what happens when dictators try to make laws when they themselves are illegally assuming leadership of the nation.

  9. To Voreqe, Khaiyum, Nabua Prince, Taukei, Fiji Sun and all the regime supporters. A simple question for you? Do you think you can ever fight against God and win? Of course not. So please please and an extra please. Stop running away from your shadows. You cannot run away from God. What He has decreed, it will come to pass. Unilke your stupid decrees, you are building your own traps, spinning your own webs. Listen to the question of the Psalmist: Why do the nations rage? And might I add for context sake; Why do the criminals rage and boast? Digest that please.

  10. Tomasi – a very confused person. Separate religion and politics Tomasi.

You still wanting to be Doubting Tomasi?
