THE National Federation Party will soon file an application in court seeking changes to the ballot paper that will be used in the 2014 General Election.

Party president Tupou Draunidalo confirmed their lawyers were working on the application.

“Our lawyers are working on it. The sooner they file it the better. We are hoping it’s done soon,” Ms Draunidalo said.

She said the party felt the ballot paper was not voter-friendly and an obstacle course to voting.

“And that’s the reaction from the public when the party leader and I have been out about meeting people in the Western Division last week.

“People expressed shock when they saw the sample of the ballot paper that is attached to the decree (Electoral Decree).”

Ms Draunidalo said some members of the public were confused when they saw the ballot paper — questioning where the names, photos and party symbols were.

“The application will be seeking the court’s opinion on whether that ballot paper that is in the decree complies with the Constitution.

“The ballot paper in our opinion does not measure up. We want to seek the courts judgement and direction.”

  1. Good luck to NFP! Our independent and fair judiciary will most certainly throw out Khaiyum’s design and follow the recommendations of the opposition.

  2. NFP should be happy there is no symbol.

How many voters recognise the mango tree? It got blown away in the cyclones of 1999, 2001 and 2006.

If Biman and tupoe were smart, they will support the prposal as it will work against FLP, FF and Sodelpa.

Prof Biman wants us to think he is smart. However, he does not get this.

  3. Tupou, yalovinaka na wekaqu. Dolava na matamu mo raica na lawaki ca eratou via valata tiko na yavu kawa ca nei Voreqe kei Khaium. I will let you discern the rest of the truth. I love you Tupou. Your Mum and step dad ( dr Bavadra) risked so much. I pray you will do the same but with more success. Vinaka
