The Citizens Constitutional Forum has confirmed it printed 10,000 copies of a booklet on the 2013 Constitution.
Reverend Akuila Yabaki told FBC News they have already distributed about 5000 in various communities in Fiji.
The government has called on CCF to withdraw all copies of the booklet after finding factual errors, deliberate omissions and inaccurate interpretations of the 2013 Constitution.
Rev Yabaki has stressed the booklet is not meant for campaigning or lobbying, but is merely to educate Fijians on the Constitution.
Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says the document contains lies about the independence of the judiciary.
“There are a number of anomalies here, that the Prime Minister and Attorney General have control over the Judicial Services Commission. They do not. The Judicial Services Commission is a five member commission that is independent. The Prime Minister nor the Attorney General sit in it. It even goes on to say the Prime Minister and Attorney General have significant control over the Judicial branch.”
Rev Yabaki also confirmed to FBC News that two political parties – the National Federation Party and the Fiji Labour Party have also collected copies of the booklet.
