NATIONAL Federation Party leader Professor Biman Prasad says the party is looking at deepening its dialogue with Fiji’s development partners.

Prof Prasad said Fiji’s development needs were many.

“From education to health, to environment degradation, to marine resource preservation, to boosting micro-finance access in semi-urban and rural areas and rural infrastructure rehabilitation,” he said.

He said the party would work with development partners to seek their financial and technical support across priority areas.

“We want to focus their support to create jobs and boosting incomes within these areas, especially in rural and semi-urban areas.”

He said the party would stick to its enduring values of freedom, democracy, good governance, humility and the understanding of the unique nature of the Fijian society.

“It believes in an open and accountable government.

“We need leaders who move beyond the hallow of egoism and embrace ideas from others and embrace dissent.”

He said the party’s vision for Fiji was where people had the freedom to earn a decent living, freedom to question the government and freedom from fear and oppression.

“It is a Fiji where we will promote the delivery of services to all without fear and favour.”

He added they wanted a Fiji where businesses were allowed to flourish, where economic growth was sustainable and where employment was plentiful.

“The days when young, smart, educated and skilled persons chose to stay out of politics are over.

“I believe more and more young people have become conscious of the fact they have lost freedom, have lost prosperity and they need to do something.”

  1. I believe more and more young people have become conscious of the fact they will have free education now, loan scheme for tertiary education, which will lessen the family burden for tution fees etc and through education our children will prosper and enjoy their life in Fiji.”

Thanks to the current government of Fiji led by Voreqe Bainimarama.
