Fijians will go to the polls on Wednesday, September 17.
The date was announced by the Attorney General and Minister Responsible for Elections, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum in Suva this afternoon.
The one-day election will be a paid public holiday.
In another development Acting Permanent Secretary for Justice, Mohammad Saneem will resign on Monday to take up the role of Supervisor of Elections.
Saneem will be assisted by an Australian national as Deputy Supervisor of Elections.
