Former Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions, Ruth Townsend is claiming that she did not resign for further opportunities.

Speaking to Fijivillage, Townsend said that the statement by Director of DPP, Christopher Pryde that she resigned for other opportunities is misleading.

Townsend said that she was only unhappy with certain things at the DPP’s office.

When questioned, Christopher Pryde said he will not comment on these claims and just said that they have accepted Townsend’s resignation.

  1. Christopher Pyrde is a liar. That is why he has fitted in so well in the Bainimarama – Khaiyum UNLAWFUL “government”. It is a clear cut case of birds of a feather flocking together.
I have no doubt Ruth Townsend’s version is the honest account of what has actually happened.
But what was she thinking when she joined this mob?
    Why join a military dictatorship?

  2. The justice system is a joke in Fiji. It has been plagued by dissent, resignations, sackings and political hangings. What else can one expect from scared shitless liars like Baiyum and co.

  3. It seems that in recruiting lawyers and judges from overseas both the AG and the DPP are self aggrandising themselves as the men in white hats, trying to fight the great corruption that is infecting Fiji (well, as proclaimed by the iPM ahem ahem) and that the Min of Justice is doing something worthwhile. Unfortunately when these recruits do go to Fiji they find that all is not roses and that the corruption is from within. How many prosecutors and judges (both local and expats) have left in the last few years? How can a DPP proclaim to wear the white hat when he is beholden to an illegal administration? Unfortunately when paid enough by a questionable employer it is easy to justify, if only to oneself, wearing blinkers to carry out your duties.
