No offence was committed……. Christopher Pryde takes six months to decide the obvious.

Sheraton strike case now officially closed

Updated 14 minutes ago

The Nadi Magistrates Court has terminated proceedings against the Fiji Trade Unionist, Daniel Urai, and five others who were charged over an allegedly illegal strike.

The six were charged in relation to a New Year’s Eve strike at the Sheraton hotels in Nadi, which they said they had no involvement in.

The Director of Public Prosecutions, Christopher Pryde, had earlier said that he had reviewed the charges and evidence and was satisfied that no offence was committed.

The Fijivillage website reports that the case is now closed and the unionists have had their confiscated possessions returned to them.

  1. The whole exercise is a farce but it has served its purpose: intimidation through abuse of power and process.

  2. this was political harassment/political persecution pure and simple . that has been the modus operandi of the Bainimarama regime right from the beginning.
only an intellectual imbecile like mackeral fails to notice that.

  3. @Macky mackeral

You should learn to read properly. The article is about the arrest of the unionists, the confiscation of their property, and charges laid against them. It took the DPP 6 months to simply decide there was no case to answer and their properties released to them.

Thus the abuse of power by the Police or whoever ordered them to carry out the arrest. The abuse of Process by the DPP for prolonging the case before making a decision.

Where does the judiciary come in?
