Health official, Dr Mike Kama has now confirmed 12 deaths and 11359 confirmed cases of dengue.
At a press conference this afternoon, Kama said most of the deaths were reported in the Central Division.
“This is data largely from government health facilities, we have our general practitioners on board, these numbers may go up from next week, because they have come up on board. But we will see what will happen in the next few weeks if our prevention activities are as effective as it should be from the clean up campaigns that are occurring nationwide.”
Over the past six weeks, one thousand confirmed dengue cases are reported weekly across the country.
The Ministry fears, this statistic can go up much higher.
Kama is once again urging people to take this epidemic seriously.
