PDP believes Great Council of Chiefs should be re-instated and the Government should get the mandate from the people.

The People’s Democratic Party says it believes the Great Council of Chiefs should be re-instated however there should be a thorough consultation with the people.

Party’s Interim President, Adi Sivia Qoro said those people who have been affected by the removal of the GCC should be consulted.

When asked what is the Party’s stand on the current equal distribution of land lease money to all members of the landowning units, Qoro says people that have been affected by this move have to be consulted.

She said the Government should get the mandate from the people.

She added proper consultation with people should have taken place prior to the removal of various race based scholarship programs that were being offered before.

Qoro said it needs to be evaluated what has been the impact of these scholarship programs on those that it had targeted.

  1. Qoro where were you all these years when Frank has mapped out a Fiji of equal suffrage………….? A Fiji for all the peoples and not for only those you are trying to bring back. The chiefs have a place to stay and that is to be chiefs of the people. We do not want to go back to the past where we were victims of selfish chiefs and its politic

  2. @Macky Mackeral

The simple fact of democracy is that national decisions are made by elected representatives. If the people do not want the Council of Chiefs so be it but the decision to abolish it was made unilaterally by Papa Pig on his own accord for he was never elected by the people.

So a decision made by one idiot cannot pass as the will of the people.

  3. This illegal junta has NO MANDATE for any of their criminal acts. Khaiyum and the corrupted judiciary in particular should be held to account for their actions. The military can be forgiven if they assist in the clean up of all those who have committed treason and acted without any mandate from the people.

  4. What I said doesn’t change the fact that Frank is the man for ordinary Fijians and this wont take us back to the previous elections who had given birth to selfish politicians RT she

  5. Macky Mackeral

You post does not make sense. No one is going back to previous election for we are looking forward to the September election yet to come.

Politicians may be selfish but so do most people; but Papa Pig is the most selfish of all not to mentioned corrupted and self-serving.

Frank is the man for ordinary people remains to be seen, so stop going off half cocked…wait for the election result before you make such bold assertion.

  6. We need the Great Council of Chiefs. Not thugs like Bai/ Khayium who earn and till todate not declared their salary of $1.3 million each.

  7. What else can one expect from a decedent of a chief other than to reinstate the elite chiefs.

The next thing is to give them back the old lease sharing formula, there by ripping off ordinary landowners again as they have been doing for decades.

She calls for Consultation on reinstatement of chiefs – with whom?
    I taukei people/all Fijians

Does she wants to hear the views of people who have been caused harm by the Elite members of the GCC, who instigated the coups/ mutiny/riots/thuggery/looting and burning?

When asked what is the Party’s stand on the current equal distribution of land lease money to all members of the landowning units, Qoro says people that have been affected by this move have to be consulted. What kind of answer is this? A typical side step of the question?

She said the Government should get the mandate from the people – madam that is the reason Fiji is going to the polls in September…

She added proper consultation with people should have taken place prior to the removal of various race based scholarship programs that were being offered before. – Going back to racists old days of favoring some people over others?

There is no need to give excessive scholarships to students except to the very best and brightest. All second best should be given a loan to pursue their studies and pay back to the government.
