Veteran human rights activist, Reverend Akuila Yabaki, has been given two months to leave the Citizens’ Constitutional Forum or face removal.

It is believed a special CCF board meeting in Suva on Wednesday decided that Yabaki’s removal was the best option for the organization, citing poor leadership and high staff turnover.

Island’s business reports, Yabaki’s contract is still valid for two years.

Staff members are being advised by board member Tessa M acKenzie of the changes and former Dialogue Fiji head, Sandra Fong, will head the CCF until a replacement is found for Yabaki who joined the organization in 1997.

  1. This was coming since the guy went to bed with the dictator justifying the coup in 2006. Things do come around aye.

  2. if his contract is still valid for two years why is he being removed as “the best option for the organisation”?
who are the people who have determined this?
    and why?
is it because he is not playing ball with the regime mob? like the USP VC is for example?
the public must know the real reason for the removal.

  3. All good things must come to an end.

While Rev Yabaki has steered CCF during difficult days, there is always a tendency for any person too long on the job to become arrogant, dictatorial, and perhaps authoritarian.

Hope he did not had too many whiskeys when he fired the 11th staff of CCF in a year.

May the good reverend retire peacefully.or even take a chance at the polls in September
