Fiji Times publishes criticism of Frank… Hopefully a sign that they will deliver a more balanced cover of the election.

Bainimarama ‘shaken’

LABOUR leader Mahendra Chaudhry believes Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama is shaken by the people’s coalition shaping up against him in the lead-up to the proposed 2014 elections.

Mr Chaudhry’s comments follow Commodore Bainimarama’s response to the maiden speech by SODELPA leader Ro Teimumu Kepa.

He said Commodore Bainimarama called the alliance a “coalition of hypocrites”, forgetting that he in fact held the record for a leader who had failed to deliver on every promise he has made to the people of Fiji.

“The ‘tired old political faces’ that he refers to are, in fact, the elected representatives of the people,” Mr Chaudhry said.

He said SODELPA and FLP had the mandate of the people of Fiji.

“The proof of this is the result of 2006 general elections. Commodore Bainimarama denigrates the Labour leader but FLP has in two general elections won the mandate of the people to lead the nation, and overwhelmingly so under Labour leader Mahendra Chaudhry in the 1999 general elections.”

Mr Chaudhry said Commodore Bainimarama should show respect for the wishes of the people of Fiji.

“Indeed he should be the last person to accuse anyone of being racist and corrupt.

“People living in glass houses, should not throw stones. Fiji will, for the first time in its history, see a true getting-together of people of all races to restore democracy.”

  1. Good on you Fiji Times. Hope you get back to your independent stand on issues and report facts as we used to know,,,lately you had deteriorated to Fiji SUN and Govt propaganda level.

Critical that you show your courage and fight for media freedom as we approach election for salvage of your reputation and for the good of the country.

  2. Lol@ hyprocites! well thats what politicians do!…its always for the people until they get into power….its all for the sponsors and the Big Man. Bai is certainly enjoying that now and will try to keep it for himself for as long as he wanted it to be.

  3. how many “tired old political faces” in the Bainimarama regime?
how many of them are known coup makers?

  4. Well, in a sense Bainimarama is right.
There are bunch of hypocrites in the coalition.
    Starting with chorwa mahen chaudhry.
He supported and profited from the coup as Bainimarama’s finance minister.
He feathered his nest as FLP leader and PM by using state funds to renovate private property.
He nepotistically gave son Rajend a job.
He lined his pockets with $3m in donation while masquerading as Fiji’s Robin Hood.
Gave $50,000 to pyari beti, and bought house in Sydeny for rajen.
Nepotistically gave senate position to in-law Sachida.
Champion of the poor mahen did not give a cent a the poor.
    Is not all this hypocritical?
Ro Temumu was frolicking in parliament with speight, eager to profit from an illegal deed.
And frolicking in the bedroom with another’s husband.
Now she is law-abiding and steadfast christian.
    is that not hypocritical?

  5. If what Peter Waqavonovono says about the Fiji Sun is true (Fiji Times 12/3) – and I am inclined to think it is on the basis of my own observations – then my question is what is the “independent” Media Industry Development Authority doing about it?
    Anything?
    Nothing?
Peter Waqavonovono says it is “extremely hard to accept the neutrality and credibility of the Fiji Sun in delivering independent and fair poll results”.
I would go even further to contend the Fiji Sun is not capable of delivering anything which is independent or fair in regards to Fiji politics because it is in the pocket of the Bainimarama military regime.
The Fiji Sun is unethically engaged in propagandising for the regime in general and the self-appointed Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama in particular.
The Fiji Sun fools no thinking person with its cheerleader role for the regime.

Is it doing its job – independently?
Waqavonovono says it is “extremely hard to accept the neutrality and credibility of the Fiji Sun to in delivering independent and fair poll results”.
I would go even further to contend the Fiji Sun is NOT capable of delivering anything independent or fair in so far as Fiji politics is concerned because it is in the pocket of the bainimarama military regime.
It is unethically and shamelessly engaged in propagandising for the regime in general and the self-appointed PM Frank Bainimarama in particular.
The Fiji Sun fools no thinking person with its cheerleader role.
It has set aside its public watch dog role.
It has therefore become a disgrace as an independent newspaper
    because it is NOT!

  7. Vinaka Chaudhry you have not ran away from the country and people should know you were democratically elected. Chaudhry has not stolen money from the taxpayers of Fiji. He was given by the people of India. Simple as A,B.C.

However, Bainimarma and Khayium are the really thief. They are paying themselves $1.3 million in salary for last 8 years. Forgot about the corrupt dealings and kickback from chinese. The land next to Garden City was given to chinese and huge money was paid to Baininmarma and Khayium. This is the tip of the ice berg of many corrupt dealings with chinese.

The 2013 constitution is an illegal document as it is not endorsed by the parliament. Bai/ Khayium must be tried in a court of law for treason.

  8. How much was Bainimarma paid by the chinese who are doing road upgrade and the concrete wall at his village? Big time money was paid to Bai.

Khayium was paid by aunty Nur Bano for the restructure of Rewa Dairy without any tender. Nur Bano was paid $500,000 for a simple report on Rewa Diary.

Raiz Khayium the brother had the contractor from FBC do renovation of his house at Namadhi Heights for free. The most corrupt illegal government in the history of Fiji.

  9. Khayium will talk to his mate judge Paul Madigan to send Chaudhry to jail just like Qararse to have him out of politics. Shame on Khayium. We will punish you when the time is right.

  10. Hehehehehe ………………… wanting to play politics???

    Hehehehehe ………………….

‘My man shaken’??? Must be in your dreams!!!

My man VB will never be shaken.

He will win this election fair and square – and guess what – a clean sweep!

    Here marinate on this:

    http://www.fijisun.com.fj/2014/03/11/no-coalition/

Vinaka VB – Fiji’s best ever PM.

  11. @Nabua Prick

Your man VB will never be shaken but he only shit in his pants while sprinting for cover in the vi tavioka.

  12. In her article ‘Government’s belittling of ABC the worst actions of all’ the Canberra Times columnist Jenna Price writes ” Of the many utterly loathsome actions of the members of this government [the Abbot Government for whom the regime mouthpiece newspaper the Fiji Sun was full of praise!] the attempt to besmirch, belittle and demean our ABC is among the worst”.
And that,” There can be no other analysis of this concerted campaign than to say it is a determined attack on democracy; the right of reporters to ask the hardest questions: and the right of the citizenry to expect its journalists will speak truth to power”.
What Jenna Price says of the Abbot Government’s attack on press freedom has an all to familiar ring to what has been happening in Fiji under the Bainimarama military dictatorship
The attack on press freedom is something that one associates with a dictatorship. So the situation in Fiji at one level is understandable. The journalists in Fiji have mostly been cowered to submit to the diktats of the dictatorship.
Not so here in Australia. Journalists like Jenna Price are not afraid to stand up for the right of reporters to do their job according to the professional and ethical demands of their trade – without the interference of the State.
That is the only way to ensure the public interest and the public good is served with due diligence.
That regrettably is missing in journalism in Fiji at the present time.

  13. @ Ratu She Shit Head

Hehehehehe ………………… You little cock roach!!!

Remember this – my man VB has never been shaken – and he will continue to build and ensure we become a modern Fiji.

A Fiji where all are respected and equal.

A land full of opportunities and the poor and commoners have a brighter future in making their dreams become a reality!

A Fiji where the iTaukei rights, the various religious rights, the various grouping’s rights will all be respected.

More people now can see and are joining my man for we all want a more promising Fiji.

Not a Fiji where race divides us, nor one where status divide us nor religion nor our wealth.

    A Fiji for All.

As for your politicians of the past who were elected by their own race and religious communities their time is over.

There is no leadership place for them in the modern Fiji.

Fiji belongs to us who cares for all races and people and all this was possible through my man VB’s steadfast leadership.

Vinaka VB – Fiji’s best ever PM!

  14. @ Nabua Prick
    modern Fiji?
your man – the casava patch dash title holder – has taken the country backwards
hope the Fijians don’t start eating one another albeit in a more modern way
with fork and knife, and spade, crowbars, spear-guns, machine guns etc…

  15. nabua prick how long have been eating Bai’s shit? Probably too long that you don’t know what is right or wrong.

  16. Bai will be washed out if their is free and fair election. Khayium has planned the rigging of the election. These two are not elected by the people. The constitution 2013 has no legal basis. It has to be challenged.People must work smarter and start creating confusion in the country. These two thugs have made millions from the taxpayers.

  17. Time to destabilise the country so the people can speak freely.
No freedom of expression by people.
    People have fear to speak.
