No word from Fiji on promised Electoral Decree

Updated at  5:27 pm on 10 March 2014

Despite promises its electoral decree would be finalised by Friday last week, there has been no word on the matter from the Fiji Government.

On Tuesday last week, the Government said it would be completed by the end of the week.

The Fiji regime has been under criticism for not releasing the decree earlier, as it contains the rules for campaigning leading up to the election, promised by the end of September.

The decree was originally due by the end of February, but the Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, said that delay was due to the adverse weather conditions.

He says the decree addresses many practical election issues, but as yet there is no word on when it will be published.

  1. there is only one rule governing everybody’s conduct in the country : the dictator’s rule.
that can’t be too hard to understand, can it?

  2. “… A democratic form of government and social organisation accepts and embraces criticism as an integral part of its operation and thereby strengthens its commitment to its citizens…”
    – David Morgan (The Australian 11/3).
A dictatorship does NOT tolerate any criticism.
Fiji is still s dictatorship notwithstanding all the pretence about a “return to democracy”.
When Fiji does return to democracy we will know it because we know precisely what it entails.

  3. It is becoming more apparent that this stage-managed process will have no relevance and no semblance at all to what a democratic election should be all about! No election decree 6 months from an election, no effort by the dictator to register his party, no declaration of assets on his part and his party members part (as forced on other parties and candidates), no permission to campaign freely and openly and no opportunity for citizens to ask pertinent questions about their future, is too me the scenario in an animal farm, not a nation seriously ready for a general election!

  4. Ab Sculpt – A workout that boasts better abs without having done sit-ups or crunches is rare indeed.
The exercise ball is a good way not just to build your abs but your core muscles and stabilizer muscles.
    2) Cable crunches: This exercises are designed to discuss the oblique muscles on
the side of your whole body.

  5. You’ve made some good points there. I looked on the internet
to learn more about the issue and found most
individuals will go along with your views on this website.

  6. I simply could not go away your site before suggesting that I actually loved the standard info a person provide on your visitors?
Is gonna be back often in order to investigate cross-check new posts
