Ro Teimumu: It’s all hard work for the party from now

THE position of a leader is not one where you sit and do nothing.

This is the view of the Social Democratic and Liberal Party’s president and newly-appointed leader, Roko Tui Dreketi, Ro Teimumu Kepa.

In an interview with The Fiji Times last week, Ro Teimumu said her role as a leader would entail a lot of work and commitment.

“First of all, I must acknowledge the faith, hopes and aspirations that the party has vested on me in terms of this position,” she said.

“I am looking at the role from the perspective of a woman because a woman is very different from a man in the way they lead.”

She said women were more consultative and participatory.

“We like to listen to a lot of views, we have the women’s council, we have the youth council that we have a lot of faith in and that they will come up with what they hope will be in the manifesto, so they will be working on it.”

Ro Teimumu said it would be hard work for the party from now onwards.

“We ask for people’s prayers, especially the nation and the voters who are there, we ask for their prayers because we really need that in Fiji and through them the best people are in parliament to serve the country.

“In terms of our plans for the next few weeks, we really need to get the sub-constituencies in place because they are the ones coming to us with the views of grassroots people.

“So we need to have various meetings where we will hear the needs of the people.

“We need to work fast, work together, we are very fortunate on having good people on board that are members of various boards.”

  1. This Lady is a same to the Fijian people,These people were supporters of speights coup where the whole of Fiji was terrorized by terrorist, women were raped at Parliament complex Fijian army personal shot at.It will be hard to forget that

  2. genes…mack is right, the lady is the same old loser who married a well known lawyer for money. She inherited nothing but the her chiefly degree to push her weight around.

She has nothing new for the new Fiji that we all wanted. She has begun her day as the new leader of SODELPA by embarking on a racist remark, a remark meant to incite foolish Fijians.

We just do not learn from the past. So Mack, sorry, you are the mongoose here.

  3. @Macky & Ameno

The lady in questioned has achieved more than both of you will do in your lifetimes.

  4. Ratu Sissy, what exactly has she achieved for the people let alone for people of Burebasaga.? Nothing, except in trying to steal what little share of lease money the ordinary itaukei are now enjoying.
