Commander firm on military direction
Military Commander and Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has reassured, the Military will not deviate from the path it is heading.
Speaking at the Quarterly Church Service for Military Officers in Nadi yesterday, Bainimarama says a large number of soldiers have now left the military because they do not like the leadership and changes that have been taking place.
He says many of them did not see that what the Military did was for the good of the country.
The Commander says he had asked all his officers one by one before taking over government whether he had their support and majority said yes adding those who said no have left the military and now, they are seeing for themselves how much the military has achieved over the years.
Bainimarama told the gathering, his stand then still stays now for those who speak out against the military.
He says the military will have to ensure that they maintain the current track they are on.
The Military Commander also defended the force against criticism, saying they will be continuously questioned and scrutinized by everyone including their own families, but they have to work to ensure that the lives of everyone in the country are protected.
