Ro Teimumu and the nine chiefs from Rewa say just as amnesty was denied to the perpetrators of the 2000 coup, so should it be denied to the perpetrators of the 2006 coup and any persons planning similar activities at any time in the future.

Rewa submission asks for 1997 constitution to be reinstated

The head of the Burebasaga confederacy and paramount chief of Rewa, Ro Teimumu Kepa today asked for the 1997 constitution to be reinstated as part of her submission to the Constitution Commission.

Ro Teimumu presented the submission signed by her, Na Tui Noco, Ratu Isoa Damudamu, Na i Liuliu ni Sau Turaga, Ro Dona Takalaiyale, Ratu Luke Vuidreketi, Na Tui Toga, Ratu Meli Todua, Saiasi Navulagilagi, Na Tui Suva, Metuisela Mudunavosa, Joave Tukitoga, Ratu Timoci Matanitobua and Ratu Kevueli Tavainavesi.

They say that they speak on behalf of the people of Rewa and the 1997 constitution is the instrument the people of the province believe best protects the interests of the indigenous Fijians as well as protecting the rights of the races that have come to call Fiji home.

Ro Teimumu and the nine chiefs from Rewa say just as amnesty was denied to the perpetrators of the 2000 coup, so should it be denied to the perpetrators of the 2006 coup and any persons planning similar activities at any time in the future.

They say substantive steps should be taken to end, once and for all the coup culture in Fiji.

The chiefs say the staging of coups within the Rewa province has resulted in abject poverty and the denial of opportunities and it has brought about arrogance and the dismissal of rights and privileges.

The Rewa chiefs led by Ro Teimumu also told the commission in Noco today that they wish to reaffirm that Fiji is a country firmly rooted in Christian beliefs, meaning that Fiji emulates and observes Christian teachings.

He said the Christian faith is the hope, the keel and the compass by which Fiji’s ship of state sails.

Ro Teimumu and the chiefs say the entrenched legislations requiring the consent of the senate members nominated by the Great Council of Chiefs must be a requirement before any legislation is passed regarding any issues affecting the rights and resources of the indigenous Fijians.

They also strongly advocate the protection of the indigenous ways of life including all of the previous laws and regulations relating to land rights, fisheries rights, culture, language and all the intellectual property rights the indigenous people of Fiji hold sacred.

The chiefs from Rewa want the House of Representatives and senate in place. They strongly oppose the federal system as implemented in the US where the President is empowered to hand pick the members of the cabinet.

The chiefs say cabinet members must be comprised of the parliamentary members.

  1. Where was she and her people from REWA in 1987/2000, they all supported the coups to enrich themselves, their families etc etc. says:

This magaitinamu marama bocilevu, from rewa is living in a dreamland……, trying to live in past and if we have more fijians like her, fiji will never progress.

Where was she and her people from REWA in 1987/2000, they all supported the coups to enrich themselves, their families etc etc.

All rewans were involved in burning and looting of Suva, Nausori shops/indian hiouses etc., supporting the coups in the past – what the fuk is she and her nine magalevu chiefs, who signed the submission, are talking about now?

  2. This bitch came all the way from Malaysia during George Speight’s coup in 2000, wanting to become the president of the banana republic of Fiji.

But she did not strike her luck and had to go back to her position as fiji’s hc in malaysia.

But she was rewarded by the racists sdl and qarase with a cabinet position as fiji’s minister for education in the corrupt qarase government.

We all saw her marching up/down the parliament house, where elected ministers were held hostage by the racists fijian thugs.

  4. @faceles

Dulu yani..they are exercising their rights to make submissions and what they say cannot be dictated by the likes of you. Whether you agree with or not is irrelevant and of no consequence to the exercise.

  5. @faceless, you better pull your head out of bai’s cicimaga then you will be able to see the truth for yourself with your own face!

  8. Any immunity or amnesty for coup perpetrators will be seen as a invitation for the next megalomanic colonel to remove an elected government. At the heart of any restoration of democracy in Fiji must be a strong signal to anyone who contemplates a coup: capital punishment for treason.

  9. The rewans were in the thick and thin of supporting previous coups in 1987 and 2000.

What you magaitinamus are talking about now?

    Have guts to deny that?

And talk abput setting examples by kepa as a high chief>>>>.I will burry my facr in the sand when you hear all her galaventing stories with that rigby player half her sons age ….

    SHAME ON YOU REWANS

  10. Of course, losing her ministerial salary and all the other perks is not a factor in Teimumu’s views !!

Does she speak for all of Rewa ??

    Rubbish !!

  11. frank the puppet and khaiyum the master should be hanged to death under 1997 constitution or life in imprison.

  12. Real Dalij

Of course she speaks for Rewa you moron; she is Roko Tui Dreketi and other chiefs were with her when they made the submission.

Yes she lost her ministerial salary through the coup while Voreqe kept his and stole heaps more. But what has that got to do with the submission?

All they did was make a submission on behalf of their people.

  13. @ joshua ratu

yes you a right, we rewans were part of the 87 coup , we always rebel just goes back to the days of Nationalist Sakeasi Butadroka. some of us rewans benefit from the coup of 87 like, beranado vunibobo[still a regime sucker] today. in 2000 , rewans were part of the coup because of the rewan parliamentarian, His Lordship –>Sir Jim Silatolu[ who is now studying correction at Harvard University--> aka : Naboro ] . then in 2000 , also came Ro teimumu and the SDL , as you know she is the sister of the late Marama bale Roko tui Dreketi-Adi lady Mara, so with her nationalist view , the vanua had to go and support her.

But Rewa is changing slowly and also rewan. with education it has open our eyes . you a stating a fact , its true, we a ashamed and we ask for fiji’s forgiveness and the business community forgiveness but one thing you should keep in mind , not only Rewa took part in 2000 riot. the 15 province of Fiji , butuko in suva on may 19, 2000.

you should also mention what happen in labasa, sukanaivalu barracks where the chiefs of vanua levu including the current tui cakau did a mutiny , with other chiefs of vanua levu. what about the chiefs of tailevu like ratu jope seniloli and ratu epenisa cakabau, adi samununu cakobau who supported and visited George speight in the year 2000. what about the qaranivalu and the mutiny in 2000, what about western chief support, the Methodist church support, of the year 2000. some business too supported 2000 coup.

    don’t just blame Rewa!

  14. @ Party

Arre Chutia, she doesnt. Just ask Vunibobo.

If she did, all the Rewans would have thrown Frank & Arse into the sea !!!

Just a handful of very minor chiefs.

All the rest including the former kaisi all support Frank.

They are grateful for the more equitable distribution of land lease monies which had previously been enjoyed by the thieves of Fiji !!

    Hooray for Frank !!!

  15. “They are grateful for the more equitable distribution of land lease monies which had previously been enjoyed by the thieves of Fiji !!”

If you mean by “equitable distribution”, the distribution from the Taxpayers to Aiyaz and Frank through Aunty Nur’s Accounting… Then yes. Fiji has become a much better place for a very select few.

The Great Council of Chiefs has been replaced by the biggest pair of Traitorous Thieves in Fiji’s history.

    Bravo indeed.

  16. @all anti government bloggers, incl. ratu boci and radio magalevu

There is no room for the Great Council of CORRUPT (GCC) in the new Fiji.

Why would I like my children to be looked down upon or ruled by some corrupt chief when in the eyes of the Lord all men and women too, are equal.

There is no room for dictator/chiefs s in a cultural system in the bible, to rule, people which god created.

So all those chiefs blogging in this forum , your days are numbered….., all your time for corruption and making young girls pregnant are gone and you will be made to account for all your sins on this earth and the leftover in heaven , like some chiefs doing time in NABORO, including racist Qarase…..

    Thats gods punishment.

  17. @Tim Qitawa

Sa rui levu nomu ciqo da…we are anti dictatorship and corruption. Go and shuck on Voreqe’s balls you shucker.
