A Ratu doing his job of looking after his people.

We have been asked by a Ratu whose name you would all recognize to publish the following plea.

We have paraphrased his request so he cannot be identified.

He has requested that all unemployed youth return to their villages and commence agriculture plantings. This he believes may be the  most significant thing that they are likely to do during their lives as within three months there will be starvation and suffering in rural areas as the economy crashes. As life in the city becomes untenable then there will be a mass exodus back to the villages. It is expected that most villages will be unable to cope with the current level of plantings and this needs to be increased immediately.

He has pleaded that all matagali make land available and all youth to return home immediately.

He was told by mainstream reporters that the plea will not be passed by the censors as it predicts a worsening situation.

He has done this after discussions with Cameron Bagrie, chief economist for the ANZ and National Bank in New Zealand, who is predicting the Fiji economy will now implode.

  1. Now there’s a protest that will put power back into rural fijians.

Turn the urban drift on its head and watch Bainimarama’s urban empire crumble from empty stomachs.
