To the Diplomatic Corps,
Affiliates,
Colleagues,
Fiji Corrections Services,
Fiji Police Force,
Women’s Committee,
Youth Committee
And the Media,
The FTUC in a statement by the FTUC National Secretary has urged the Regime to allow Police and Corrections officers to form their own associations that can address grievances and issues surrounding their work.
These officers sweat their hours away protecting Fiji citizens and maintaining the law, it is high time the government put in place mechanisms to help these workers exercise their rights.
Care of duty is on the government as the employer of the country’s disciplined forces to ensure that problems faced by these workers are taken care of.
We humbly request the publication and network campaigning of the attached press release.
The statement is also available on the FTUC website through the following link : www.ftuc.org and also on the FTUC Facebok page.

I really can’t believe this. What part of the essential industries decree does this moron not understand? It is my intention to destroy unions, not to create new ones. The only union that is allowed is the KKAU, short for Kiss Khaiyum’s Arse Union.

    Claims Fijians joining the Taliban

Fiji police said they were working with Interpol to investigate reports of Fijian militants joining the Taliban.

Although the Fiji Muslim League rejected the claims, police criminal investigation department director Luke Rawalai said on Saturday they were “taking this very seriously”.

He said Fijians joining the Taliban would violate the Pacific island country’s counter-terrorist laws and it would be treated as “a major crime”.

“We are investigating through our channels overseas”, police spokesman Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri said, naming Interpol as assisting in the investigation.

A Taliban spokesman in Pakistan also said five weeks ago that they had “welcomed some people from Fiji” to their ranks late last year.

However, the Fiji Muslim League said that while some Fijian Muslims had gone to Pakistan to pursue their Islamic studies they were not aware of any connections with the Taliban movement.

League president Hafizud Dean Khan said he did not understand why the Taliban would claim it had Fijian members “unless it is aimed at boosting their international image”.

“Muslims in Fiji have no reason to be oppressed as our country has allowed peaceful existence for all faiths,” Khan told the Fiji Times.

trade unions exist because of modern day mismanagement and trade unionists benefit by taking regular fees from the workers and doing fuck all in return. now the unionists are really earning their pay and fighting for the workers and their livelihoods. they have never fought like this before for the workers and its good to see. but will they continue to do so when true democracy returns…???

Claims Fiji PSA members want union head to resign.
    Posted 20 July 2011, 16:34 AEST

The Fiji interim government claims that disgruntled public servants want the head of their union to resign immediately.

The Ministry of Information has put out a press release saying that members of the Public Service Association have called on PSA general secretary Rajeshwar Singh to step down because he has no mandate to speak for them.

The government says Mr Singh is in Australia at the moment, along with Fiji Trades Union Congress national secretary Felix Anthony and other union leaders, arguing in favour of the international union movement taking action against Fiji to protect the rights of unionists.

The permanent secretary of the Ministry of Information says that Mr Singh has no right to speak for Fiji public servants.

These guys do not understand how a guarded democracy works! We guard the country against anything that is not fully aligned with my rule. We persecute anyone who is even a potential threat to my rule let alone a real one. Singh and Anthony will get the Ballu Khan treatment when they come home and then we will see if they still have the stomach to challenge my benevolent rule. Graham and Crosbie have already been alerted to argue how relative things are in Fiji. You could be in Syria Anthony and there you would most probably not be alive. So sing the praise of my rule and join Graham complaining about too loud music in the Sofitel.

Little brother, before I forget: Please mention my sweet body odour when you practise your interview with Qorvis. Graham has won his contract by saying I smell of roses even in the nether regions.

You are a disgrace. Go and read grub sheet and the Crosbie blog. It will help you to understand the way forward. The best dictator Fiji ever had will bring prosperity and hope for those prepared to kneel down facing towards Mecca and say Khaiyum is great, Kahiyum is the leader, Khaiyum is the saviour.

One step ahead of you Big Brother,

I was thinking we could bottle your sweat and release it as a mens fragrance. I know you don’t sweat that much (except when firecrackers go off in your neighbourhood) so we can import a few hundred chinese workers and put them in a sauna all day standing in buckets. It will give a whole new definition to “sweat shop”.

Watch out for Graham. He knows roses grow in manure.

” A rose by any other name would smell just like your feet”

That 17 year old Qorvis guy will believe it. His nasal passages collapsed at college from partying too hard. Watch out for ANARE. He is like a little brother to the AG. He is my fiercest rival. He wants the AG to take your throne. I am glad you keep your enemies closer. The AG will run a knife through your back if we drop our guard. You are the King but he sees himself as God.

If the above is to be taken literally than why is the inept FTUC is concerned?

Is it because the Fiji PSA is self governing and doesn’t fall under the umbrella of the profligate FTUC?

If the FTUC claims to be democratic than why and how many workers does the congress allow or encourage to openly participate in union elections?

Fiji’s dictators struggle with the concept of equal treatment under the law. Fiji’s Land Transport Amendment Decree (No 8 of 2013):

THE following types of vehicles shall, in respect of offences detected by photographic detection devices, be exempted from the payment of penalties … (e) any official motor vehicle used by a cabinet minister . . .

I believe its only fair considering most western countries have the same laws.
