People are continuing to ask if there will be an end to coups.

The question was again posed to the Constitution Commission who was in Ba yesterday.

“A coup is illegal always will be illegal. No matter for what reason, it is still illegal.”

Commission Chair Professor Yash Ghai says while he can promise no end to the coup culture there could be solutions found to improve our socio economic development.

“Everybody seems to be tired of coups. So one of the challenges would be to see what can be done to prevent coups. Some say it should be included in the constitution but I know that it would not help.”

While many voiced their concerns about coups many more highlighted everyday problems and how life was becoming hard.

“I have to say that many of the issues that people have raised with us are not political issues. They are very personal issues and many deal with livelihood issues.”

The challenge now is for the Commission to complete the process and hand a draft constitution for Fiji’s future.

  1. The army needs to go. They are of next to no use to the people and for as long as the RFMF is in place we cannot escape the coup culture.

  2. Ghai you fucking clown of the thives like Frank and his army people and prop up by our con AG .it doesn’t matter what you want to be changed the Coup won’t go until some of the army top brass goes to jail.Like Rabuka and others 87 now Bai and his gang 2006 they brutalize our econmics and they play blaming games to us here in FiJI.Come on who you trying to Corn Chop .FMF should not allowed to take part in any constatution review they not helping the country actully they bring it down. They are 2 racist and break our law .

  3. Good on you Professor Ghai you are the one who can lead us to a better place. You are saying the things that our politicians should be saying. If our politicans really care about the people and not just to get their votes they will support you and say the things you are saying too.

  4. to rid of the coup cultures, we have to get rid of the instituation that instigated them. the RFMF has to be stripped of its power and reduced to about 500 men, and be there to serve and protect fiji citizens. no power, no guns, no coups.

  5. @losalini

Sister Lo a lot of shit has been coming out of your big mouth recently.

We are talking about 25,000 plus fijians who will be without any support if you want to get rid of the army?

    Where will they?
What will be crime rate in the country? Unemployment rate? Not enough place in the jails which one will have to build instead of bridges of love and peace.

What will happened to the lost revenue from our soldiers serving overseas?

The country will go to dogs like you and Qarase and other tongan dogs doing rounds in viti.

So my dear sis, please, please think twice before you open your mouth?
