A good start but assistance needs to be fast and efficient. There are immediate issues that require a strong leader and a coordinated “Military Style” approach….. Maybe for today we have the correct person in charge. Time to step up.

Prime Minister, Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama who is currently in Nadi, is expected to conduct an extensive tour of the affected areas in coming days.
Commodore Bainimarama said the prayers and thoughts of all Fijians are with those affected by the flooding, especially the families of those lost in the tragic weather.
The Prime Minister said emergency services continue to be on full alert to support the affected areas and the government is closely monitoring the weather situation as they begin the recovery plan.
Commodore Bainimarama has also launched a flood relief appeal to assist families affected by the flooding.
People and interested parties intending to make donations to the appeal can make deposits to the BSP account number 4706578.

…………………………………………………………………..
Those of us who have spent the last few days in the West and under water recognise this flood can quickly become another “Disaster”.
Health and additional people for a clean up are the first priorities.
A rapid well funded coordinated approach by both Dismac and the Health Department with military feet on the ground providing the labor could have this sorted in a rapid time.
We have the trained coordinated labor force in the military but there seems to be a reluctance to use more than a couple of hundred at a time. Lets use the assets we have as a country and the military is an asset.
There is no Maybe about it, the nation of Fiji does have the most honorable person in control.
Hence the reason why the people’s PM made a mad dash to such affected areas, just to let the people know their PM shares their anxiety and to assure the people help is on the way.
Stay strong Fiji your PM is an incarnate of the most high but he cannot perform miracles.
There is no question that Viti has its most its incompetent, corrupt person as PM. A pig who is content with ill gotten gains while the people suffer.
The Vuaka (Bai) and the Koli ( Sai) are the devil Satan incarnate.
Another chance for the pig to get more money into his personal account. Last time there was a disaster there was a lot of deposits into his ‘relief’ account and no withdrawals even months after the disaster had passed. Interestingly most of the deposits were from the big business including Tappoos….looks like they’ve gotten their money’s worth.
He has brought nothing new to the game. Under his command the west experienced the worst flooding in Fiji history. What have his “infrastructure focused” plans delivered 3 years later? Another record for floods. Bullshit and corrupt advisers need to go. Conducting tours and promisising assistance is what any PM would do let alone this party crasher. This guy is long on rhetoric and short on action. Useless!!!
Frank’s “relief” is not the same as anyone else’s.
The disasters only serve to show the complete failure of the regime’s promises and ongoing inability to govern and improve the infrastructure of the nation. Shameful.
More Qorvis spin – issue is not him being there – its lack of any co ordinated plan. And where’s Nailatikau?
foget NAILATIKAU , he is with his dildo at the white house, like father like son
Our beloved PM is currently piling sandbags himself. With his own capable hands he has pulled four hundred and fifty drowning children out of the water. He has also donated $ 200,000 from his leave back pay to the relief effort and has ordered aunty Nur to transfer 2 million from the Khaiyum accounts. In addition he has ordered all troops in the West to focus on flood relief and stop torturing regime critics at the barracks. The PM has also called Gillard and demanded a donation of 20 million from the Australian government. Informed circles in Canberra have indicated that this donation will be forthcoming without any delay. China has also pledged delivery of 500,000 remote controlled toy vessels so that the children of Nadi can take advantage of the floods and race their little vessels in the waters. So what more can our beloved PM do?
Try finding anything about the failed coup in PNG in eitheir the Fiji Times or Sun? Talk about a muzzled media.
Radio.
“The disasters only serve to show the complete failure of the regime’s promises and ongoing inability to govern and improve the infrastructure of the nation. Shameful”
It is indeed foolish of you boy to conceive such fables, now did the PM instruct the gods to have a dump on Fiji?
Can the lack of infrastructural upgrade be blamed on past governments because of their inertness?
It wasn’t long ago the Nadi River was dredged with the embankments secured and in some places raised above water level.
The problem with Nadi is the fact the township is below the water level and therefore the township is susceptible to flooding.
The only solution now is to move the township to higher grounds because no matter how much they dredge the river there will always be a build-up of silt inter-alia debris.
Sai,
The only reason why Bainivuaka was in Nadi was to attend his niece’s (Amete Nagatalevu – may she rest in peace) funeral -the funeral was supposed to be on Tuesday but was put back to Thursday becasue of the weather – he would never have gone there in the height of the floods.
@ pamu wai.
Wonder what became of that young Lewa he engaged last year too write his spin & improve his image?
Bai instructed the devil while shagging Sai to flood Viti
Hope he was wearing a condom?
